Visible vote button

JDB 7 years ago in Usability & Interface • updated by Sergey Stukov (co-founder) 5 years ago 9
When viewing a topic, there is no visual feedback inviting the vote action.
Newbies can just see the topic and never vote (unless mouse move).
It must be more intuitive, I suggest:

See both Uservoice and GetSatisfaction have buttons with text inviting the action. I think it is necessary, being the voting action one of the most vital actions in this kind of system.

Now we have following voting interface, seems that it satisfy your request.

Buttons are not intuitive and experience is even worse on touch screens.
Please improve this.

On mobile this is a MUST since there is no onMouseOn event.

How is this going?

90% of my users access the site via Windows Phone, and experience is bad. They usually stop giving feedback because of this and really impacts the business.

Zendesk is tempting me a lot, has full support for mobiles. I'm sad to tell I will go there if this is not resolved soon.

I'm a featured customer on your main site, please do listen me.

Hello JDB.

We very much appreciate the fact that you are our client. And we're really working hard on our mobile version.
Look at the screenshots from my phone (this is only draft, not yet finished version).

I hope we will release it soon.

Can I beta test it?

Yes, current plan to release it within 24 hours.

Oh great... Thanks

Concerning the full web interface, the initial suggestion by JDB would also be very welcome:

=> a visible text inviting the action, like his example snapshot

"Use the above buttons to vote"

(Or simply singular "Use the above button to vote", since by clicking the main vote counter, it leads to the help text "Click on the arrow to vote for or against".)

I think this would greatly increase the number of votes for new users.
